Title: NEW TERRAGEN clouds do not look good
Post by: Frank_Art on March 11, 2025, 08:23:31 PM
Hello,
I use terragen4 to render spherical skies. Few weeks ago I upgraded to the latest version and I found that the default quality of the clouds drastically changed. Here I post the first image of a sky done with the previous version and the second image done with the newer version. I'm not sure why it looks like this, maybe I need to tweak some settings to make it look like the old one? Any tip and suggestion is welcome (https://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/Smileys/fugue/smiley.png) thanks in advance

one thing is how many lights do you have?
and can you turn it/them down

check your cloud colour
turn it down a bit

Thanks, I can try tweak those parameters! Everything in the scene is default (color/light)

For new (v3) clouds you'll have to increase voxel resolution (in the optimization tab of the cloud node) depending on the dimension of the cloud node. The default value is way too low.
There's a field showing the current voxel count per axis - as a rule of thumb I always try to get a value of at least 10 voxels in Y axis to get some detail.
