Title: "Mackerel" 4k
Post by: eartheryl on July 27, 2025, 11:33:56 AM
"Mackerel" 4k render

This scene was rendered in Terragen 4.8 at 4K resolution. The altocumulus "mackerel" cloud uses a density shader, masked with a bitmap image I created entirely in World Machine. The airplane model was sourced from CGTrader.

It looks like a real airplane to me.

The thin line clouds look a little grainy.

Great cloud scene, but I agree about the mackerel clouds being too grainy. Cloud like that can also be done with a x (or y) to scalar, a sinus, a divide by a constant,  and warp, and a mask to keep it to a certain area.

Thanks for pointing that out, I actually wasn't sure whether to add more blur to the cloud to make it more wispy. What could I use to achieve this?

I made you a simple setup. You'd have to elaborate on this.

You're welcome. It was just a basic setup, a start, so not perfected at all. You may also want to further mask it by smaller whispy cloud fractal or PF, etc. Your adaptation looks good.

Thanks! Your example looks great. I'm still getting the hang of Terragen nodes, as WorldMachine's felt easier to grasp.
