I've seen many talented artists here in this forum. Here's an opportunity to put your work in print - http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/expose/expose_6/callforentries/index.php?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=highlights&utm_term=expose6&utm_content=textlink&utm_campaign=20080116
Why shouldn't a TG2 art piece find acceptance?
yea.....I have known about Expose for a while now....but trust me....its really really hard to get your work in there...but once you do...you are known all over the world!
Why shouldn't one or two of the TG artists make a debut? We have some incredible talents all over the place here. And there's still time.
About two weeks ago I have browsed all of the Expose 6 entries and I didn't see any TG work in it yet.
Nor did I see any landscape-work, maybe a couple but then they were 2D for sure.
Don't know what happened since. I also saw that the majority of entries were ridiculous. Sorry to say, but there's also a lot of crap being posted for entry.
So in conclusion I think that the absence of 3D landscapes so far this year, TG slowly becoming a known program/tool and never been published before in Expose history (as far as I know) there should be a fairly good chance of getting something into Expose 6.
At least, if the jury wants to have unique images in their book.
I think that Luc's 'lost world' kind of image would certainly fit in the common quality of work being published in Expose.
For those who don't know what I mean, this one:

Or this one, to my opinion one of the greatest TG images ever:
http://lucbianco.free.fr/2bgal/img/T2_2007/TGD815.jpg (http://lucbianco.free.fr/2bgal/img/T2_2007/TGD815.jpg)
There's only a 'minor' problem. The desired renderquality AND size.
Ballistic prefers to receive almost 4k images.
So if someone does have something worth submitting I think we should all help rendering it ;D

I agree. Come on Luc, make us proud! :)
We should do something here, before the deadline. I agree with nvseal. Come on, Luc! And everyone else who has a grand idea. Sheesh, even Buzzzzz's work was awesome.
Hey the more entry's the better. I smell contest.

Little chance we'll see buzzzzz joining, he's really into Vue lately. Maybe he'll make an exception?

That sounds good :) The winners' image will be rendered by all of us in 4k @ insane renderquality ;D
I've always been skeptical of how Expose works. I mean, as far as the publisher is concerned, it's heaven: They get to use great artwork, and don't have to pay a single cent to any of the contributors (apart from a free copy of the book...which the publisher would write off as cost value).
They lure artists in with the "international notoriety", but the fact is that these artists would get (and have gotten) just as much buzz from their work if they posted it to CGTalk.com. So until the Expose makers actually start compensating the artists for using their work, I will never buy a book, because the reason I would buy it is to support the artists, not the publisher.
Really they don't get paid, hmm that sucks but I guess its still cool seeing your art in a book.
Thanks for the info, njen. That makes me wonder how lucrative the book actually is...if people are really all that anxious to buy it or just get their picture published.
I would guess, though, that Will has a point. Getting that recognition could be good for a portfolio.
It acts as a showcase for digital artists, and bear in mind that the likes of National Geographic use it as one of their sources for commissioning artists (not everything can be photographed). They're so impressed that they've become involved in the whole venture. I think I'm right in saying that some similar ventures charge an entry fee.
you know what we should do.....
we should all pitch in and come up with a render and then submit that to Expose and in a way we could get TG2 out there....get some recognition for TG2...
More or less what I said Dhaval....we just need a worthy image and a couple of (10 haha) guys to render it at the desired size ;)
the reason I said *we* should pitch in....is beacuse if the render gets accepted....then it would be for TG2 rather than one man show!
I was planning to rework this project
http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=2821.0
and try to submit an image serie. The greatest limit is my core number :) I'm also very busy now. We'll see..
oh that would be wonderfull Lucio!
Oh, yeah.
TG2 deserves a place in the next edition.
meh i dont want to ruin your hopes i dont mean to offend lucio who is one of best terragen users for sure but theres no way the images you linked getting into expose. i have expose 4 at home.. and its like you know the top notch, really the landscape are true amazement true dream, the expose doesnt aim only for realism and shit and shit its also aims for original concepts rather than resembling nature in excellent realism

I don't see a reason why a good TG render can't be an 'original concept'.
There is lots of work in Expose what looks really 'real' and lacks some originality/creativity and vice versa.
Very simple extra elements can easily make a TG render 'special'.
