my entry for the ashundar monthly contest.
finally found some time to render a full scene...
(o_b, if that disqualifies me, np, just delete the contest entry then, should have read the rules before :D )
the water and clouds are too noisy....maybe tone down a little.
agree about the water, i was expecting large wind patches to the left, must have been another pov ;)
Like it. It looks real, except there's a slight fogginess on the left side over the water. Also, the clouds are just a little noisy, like DH said. Very nice population and mountain in the distance.
Agreeing with the above. Looks very realistic without the grain.
I like this image.
As previously stated, there is too much noise. I'd up the quality another notch and up AA to atleast 10.
I think the ground texture could use more variation, and some organic coloring in patches that match where the trees are (else you'll have that unrealistic trees out of bare rock look). Also, if you can vary those trees some (in height, color), this would be pretty sweet.
The mountains look really nice. Maybe fuzz out that snow line a bit more, and add a second thicker snow layer for the highest points of the mountain (using altitude constraints).
Child@Play,
I am the contest moderator for the AMFI contest, I have a question for you did you post the Above image in the posting thread at Ashundar for the contest first, then post here or post here then post in the posting thread? If you posted here before you posted in the contest posting thread you're image would be disqualified as the contest rules state:
ENTRY RULES AND REQUIREMENTS:
All submitted entries may not have been previously or currently posted on Ashundar or any other site.
If you could please tell me which is the case I can deside what to do in any case you would receive a PM from me informing you that your image had been removed.
Regards to you.

heyhey ;D
where to start, hehe. CA, posted first on ashundar, just compare the times. Like stated above, np if it has to be removed, when i'm too dumb it's my fault :)
moodflow, good point about the AA, another point for buying this nice piece of software as soon as i can afford it ;D
hm, about the organic colouring, dunno, on my screen the ground looks greenish. and, i'm using 2 snow layers, differing in height range and coverage
thanks for the comments, really helped me in what direction i need to work next.

working on the trees right now, think i'll upload them at ashundar when i'm ready with that.
somehow i can't figure out how to make the second, higher snow layer thicker. any hints on that one, anyone? playing with 'intersect underlying' and the intersection zones seems to work to a certain degree, but there must be other ways aswell, i asume?
Didn't someone make a tutorial somewhere awhile ago about vertical rise of snow banks? And I remember someone recently posted a really cool block of ice-snow. Vertical / lateral displacement gymnastics?
Not much help.
But, here's that tutorial - http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=753.0
cool, thx calico, how could i miss that one ??? :o
edit: this is a combination of 'my' snow and a modified version of the 'embossed snow'
Looks good, but I think the trees in the first on are too close to the water.
this is going to be a complete workover, lol, advanced like 7 versions from the original image
guess i'm more of a technician than an artist, german engineering ;D ;D
German engineering is good. I love German cars ;)

the parts are freakishly expensive!
We'd all drive a Saab, if we could. Ooops. Svedish.
Anyway, I don't see how anyone can see the trees. All I see are tiny green specks. :D
