Title: Star objects instead of image maps?
Post by: EBAndrew on January 17, 2008, 06:32:09 PM
I'm using Terragen to render out skyboxes, and using image maps on the background doesn't really play nice with that, since it'll show the same starfield in every frame. Is there an option yet to create random star objects around the planet?

(I've been under a rock for the past four months, so bear with me :P)

There is a clip file in here somewhere that makes acceptable procedural stars.

Time passes  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I had a quick hunt and I think this is the one

You can also use spherical projection instead of camera projection, provided your source image is appropriate. There are a number of hemispherical star maps out there...

Cool, thanks guys! I think I might end up using the procedural method though. I like messing with things in Terragen. :D
