how do i restrict a population by an image mask, i'm trying to make planetary rings but whenever i try to plug in the image to define where the population is terragen crashes ??? i must be pluging something where it shouldn't go but i cant figure it out, help please :(

Sounds like a problem with not specifying a camera when using Through Camera projection. Either change projection modes or specify a camera.

Check this out.  Not exactly what you're asking for, but it does create rings for a planet.  Found it somewhere here in the forums.

As far as masking, there are a lot of examples here from various threads as well as files to download to better understand.

I've had similar problems quite often.

I had no problems applying an image as a mask for surface layers and/or powerfractals, but as soon as I used the exact same node for masking a population with it TG crashes when it starts populating.
