I didn't see a "features request" area or sticky, so I'll post this here and hope someone points me in the right direction (if it doesn't belong here.)
As I attempt to learn Terragen2, I find myself doing lots of quick renders -- sometimes in the default 640x480 and other times in the quick render mode.
Anyway, from using Lightwave, I've gotten used to their render window which stores each render so they can be checked via a drop-down selection list. I was thinking this would be a nice feature for an easy way to compare changes to a scene (yes, I know I can use a program like Adobe Bridge to compare scenes.)
As an alternative, is there a way to do a region crop without the render window being cleared? By allowing this, one could render a strip over a previous render and compare the differences.
You can do region crops, but I'm not sure what your question is.

When I do a region crop, the render window clears first and then renders the crop area. What I was thinking, if I rendered a full window, then made some changes, say to the terrain, I could do a region crop without the render window clearing. Then I could compare the area next to the crop to see how it changed.

Yep. That's different and it doesn't work that way. I guess it could be a nice feature, but I'm just waiting for the Beta release...
We do intend to include some kind of "image browser" function in a future release. This would allow you to more easily compare successive test renders, similar to other apps like Lightwave, as you mention.

or you could go to File, then Explore Temporary Files. Just view the image folder that you want in a slideshow, I know Windows has the built-in "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" which works fine for a quick view at photos.

Yes, and as I mentioned, Adobe Bridge works fine too (it has a slide show feature.)
Best though would be a crop region that overlays the previous render. I posted an example here:

The crop render is between the light blue lines. I think it gives a good view of changes to a scene.
[edit] I should add that this feature should only be available if the render window size or camera position have not changed.

While we are talking about crop regions and feature requests, how about being able to set the crop region by drag selecting a rectangle in the render window?

Nice! This will save lots of time when trying to get those last details adjusted, like blend zones and object placement, etc. :)
