Hi all,
Here is a WIP for an alien ice planet. There has been a bit of photoshop to add the tiny lights, stars and a bit of work on the snow to remove a tree and niose pattern I didn't want, other than that, 100% teragen.

wow, i like this. nice job
I like this one but I am not sure about the light color....maybe you can reduce the reflection a little on the left and change the light color on the right to orangish or something...
Realism and fantasy in one, I like it.
Great work. I really like this one.
This is very impressive.
Dude, this is nice. Good forethought. Excellent execution. Nice distribution all around.
Very nice. I love the ice on the left and the little lights on the right.
Great job. Really like it.
Glad you like the image.
In my work as a matte painter, the hardest thing for me at the moment is to make a landscape I intend rather than make something random, fly about it and pick out some feature I like. I am using world machine a LOT to assist but it's still difficult. I am really looking forward to the gold release of TGD.

@Glenn - Where do you work as a matte painter? What is your choice of tools, usually?
yes, please tell. That's one of the things I'm looking at for a career, I want to do something similar at least
I do a bit of matte work for http://www.iloura.com.au/ (http://www.iloura.com.au/). I use 3D studio, terragen, world machine, photoshop, anything that gets me over the line (even Blender). The trouble is that no one package is the complete picture for matte work. I'm hoping to take terragen's images and project them into base mesh in Max or use the terragen to Max plugin to bring the two together.
There are some examples of my matte work here: http://www.glennmelenhorst.com/Mattes%20and%20environmental/mattepainting.htm (http://www.glennmelenhorst.com/Mattes%20and%20environmental/mattepainting.htm)

Nice work, Grassynoel. Thanks for sharing this piece of your world with us.
Nice use of the lights, pretty sweet render!
Nice use of reflection, the violet lights give a good otherworldly quality ;)
