Title: FireRock
Post by: rcallicotte on February 25, 2008, 06:26:04 PM
After getting advice and assistance from moodflow, Volker, Oshyan and others about displacements and ideas about lava, here is my final attempt.  I'm not satisfied with the end result, but will move on.  Nevertheless, comments would be helpful to keep me learning.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this image.  I learned a lot.

looks good except you need more color variation in rocks...

I think the effect he was going for was volcanic rock. I think a little ash on the top would look good, and perhaps a mid air population of ash to help with the look of live lava flow.

@dh - lonewolf is right.

@lonewolf - nice ideas.  Need to wait until next time.  This took about a month and a half to learn enough to do just this.   :P

Fantastic image Calico! It looks more like an extreme sunset than volcanic rock to me (probably due to the lighting?), but I really like the image- very tundra. The sun is especially cool.

which tree model did you use? I can't see too much detail, but it looks like it fit the bill nicely.

Creepy trees from Daz - http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=2707

I ran it through PoseRay first and turned it into a TGO.
