Title: Need some help
Post by: Doomwaffle on March 02, 2008, 11:03:24 PM
Hi, I need some help. I have this heightmap from the US website:
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/30/thegrandcanyonxc6.png
But when I import it into my terrains, it shows up tiny in the preview. How can I make it larger so that I can work with it easier? (And it is the Grand Canyon.)

Thanks,
Doomwaffle
I've tried resize heightmap, but nothing happens! I'm not even sure that is the right kind of heightmap, too, since it shows up differently than the picture.

it shows up tiny because it is far away from the camera...yo need to move your camera closer to the heightfield...

This might not even be an acceptable Heightmap, I realize. I guess I'll have to look for another.

I don't think that's actually a heightmap. It appears to be a shaded relief image, which will *not* reproduce the actual terrain shape and height. There is plenty of real terrain data available for the grand canyon, some even already translated into Terragen .ter format. For example:

I've updated that one.  Should get off my bum and transfer the rest of the site  ;)
