Inspired by China's Yangtze River.
This was an image from early 2007 (back when TG2 had serious issues). Due to the crashes, I had to shelf it.
Now that TG2 is stable (though far from complete) I figured I'd dig this one back up and re-tweak it. I really like how it came out. Definitely some work to do, but I can see the potential of TG2 even more now.
Minor postwork in Photoshop (contrast, color, hue, sharpening, etc).
This image did have a gondola floating down the river (a 2D billboard since I don't have any 3D gondola models). It looked alright in the preview. But it looked like a cut and paste job in the final. So I took it out. Now the river looks all empty. Do me a favor and "see" a gondola in your mind's eye. It will save me some time on going back and adding it. ;D

I hope you like it. I had fun making it, and learned alot along the way...
very nicely done man...although the clouds could use some work....
Oh, man. This is nice. Great. Looks like a photo...
This is great. I realy like the clouds, think they look natural. Lighting is good too. I'm glad you took the boat out, it doesn't need it ;D

nice one
Superb! the clouds are great, the water just right and the foreground is wonderful!
Interesting work !
The right-foreground, water and clouds are my favorite aspects of the image.
I'm not really fond of the left mountains and trees.
The resemblence with Yangtze is quite nice and accurate, as far as what I've seen of it of course :)
Nice work,... again ;)

Yea, I was a bit disappointed in the background textures. They are a bit too "light" for my taste.
I agree with Tangled-Universe. The foreground and the clouds are very good. Love the little beach and you have to re-render this one once we have water transparency.
