Title: A Rather Wet World
Post by: darthvader on March 09, 2008, 12:08:42 PM
Here is another planet that I've been working on I think it could benefit from a lower cloud density and more cloud samples, please tell me what you think and where you believe there could be room for improvement :)

Looks like you're on the Light Side with this one, darthvader.   ;D  One thing you might consider is jacking up the atmosphere height and maybe even changing its color, ever so slightly...or otherwise.  Very nice.  Looks like a good addition to a set of systems.

Are the clouds made using a mask?

Yep,  the clouds are just distributed using an uber mask i made from about five other image masks based off of various planets from Star Wars movie clips and images of the earth itself. It was tedious to make but i think it's worth it considering that there is only one cloud layer being used in the image which saves a butt load of render time. :)

good job on the cloud distribution....but it doesnt look as sharp as it should be...
