Title: Moonlight Peak, California
Post by: choronr on April 02, 2008, 11:23:57 PM
The terrain was derived from a 4097 DEM file of Moonlight Peak, CA.  An image map was used for the vertical surfaces and a power fractal added for the grass surface. Xfrog Birch trees were added including TG2 grass clumps; bushes by lightning; and, small flowering ground covers (Hotei) by Bobby Starr.

Really calming.  Pretty nice.

Great view, nice framing. I find it's rather low contrast overall, the lighting is perhaps *too* soft, so it looks more like an (old) painting. But it's not a bad effect. Overall a nice image.

Thanks Oshyan and Calico; yes, I agree it is rather a soft view; but, I compared it to earlier renders (I made 4) and I think the composition looked better this way.

I agree that it lacks contrast and is possibly a lithe dark but Oshyan is spot on when he says that this looks like an old painting. They can also loose their appeal when cleaned so leave well alond and preserve the mood.  ;)
