Title: Tell el Amarna
Post by: Marcos Silveira on April 22, 2008, 04:24:50 PM
These are the remains of what was once the beautiful capital city of Akhetaten (Horizon of Aten - the sun god) also known as Tell el Amarna. Located on the eastern side of the  Nile River, El-Amarna, like all other ancient Egyptian capitals, was made up of temples, government establishments, utilitarian facilities such as grain silos and bakeries, palaces and common mudbrick homes, several necropolises, as well as a number of zoos,  gardens and other public buildings. In fact, the scope of this city is somewhat amazing if one considers that it was founded in about 1350 BC and abandoned only some twenty years later.

One can only see nothing but fragments of it's past glory, the city is represented today by scattered ruined colunms...

The terrain and fake stones need some more fractal detail, at least in colour, but otherwise, nice image, and nice backstory.
