Title: Stones in Water
Post by: rcallicotte on May 02, 2008, 01:25:30 PM
Click on the image to see the final size (1600X920).  Took about 5 hours with the following settings -

Detail: 1
AA: 10
GI: 2, 2
Surface Details: Yes

Cool.  Great idea.

I was surprised how fast this rendered, considering its size.

This is a pretty simple scene lighting-wise. GI Surface Details probably wasn't necessarily and likely just added a lot to the render time for little or no benefit. Just so you know. ;)

Thanks Oshyan.  I tend to always use GI Surface Details when I'm close to the ground like that.  I'll try it without, when I recreate it with some fishies.   ;D

Nice image. Pity about the straight edged water line on the rocks though.

Kevin, what is it you're seeing?  I don't see it.

I see it too. It's just a rather hard edge where the water meets the rock, you can fix this by adding another layer to the end of your shader tree for the rocks that applies only small displacements, breaking up that sharp border line.

Nice work; 'transparency lives'!
