Title: Just a test....
Post by: red_planet on May 08, 2008, 11:02:07 AM
Was testing reflective surface....

Much better now !! yaaayyyy !!

All elements simple, Trees from the free Xfrog stuff, buildings knocked together in about 5 mins in Blender.

Rendered in 4 crops, Mem usage topped out for whole image. Total render time about 1.25 hrs on Quad Core Xeon (Dell Workstation, 4Gb RAM)

Composited in Photoshop on Mac. No Post processing beyong copying all 4 parts into a single bitmap. There is a very slight jump in graduation in the sky, noticeable mainly on the right side of the picture. This could be minimised or even eliminated by cropping differently.

No awards for composition, lighting or modelling..... it's just a test, but I liked the look.  :D

Nice!!

Something I noticed was that the reflective shader now has a transparency slider as well. Which is very handy for windows like this...

That should really be a disabled parameter. It should only be used by the Water Shader as it hasn't been properly set up for general transparency yet.

and it's also just handy if you have modeled the interior :)

My reason for wanting to disable it is that I will probably need to change how it works soon. As long as you don't mind :)
