Title: glade
Post by: inkydigit on June 06, 2008, 03:29:46 PM
a simple image...thanks to Klas for the grass, lightning for the trees and Nikita for the 'population restriction through camera projection' trick!
thanks also for taking tiome to view/and or comment/critique, as these are always welcome and appreciated!

These are among the best kind.  I like it.

One thing I notice that's sort of subtle is a pattern among the tree leaves of all the trees combined together.  A number in the teens or larger in the Unique Variations field and even a slight change in the population's Object Scale (like 1 to 1.3) will sometimes help to eliminate texture repetition or object patterns.

I like this image, especially the lighting, although as Calico said a little more variety in the vegetation would add yet another level of realism.  However, I have never had "Unique variations" do anything for me, so my recommendation would be to try to change other things too.

I dont think that 'unique variations' is a feature that is working yet!....or at least properly implemented?...as for scale..I have applied this method(maybe too subtle!)
thanks for the input !

Really?  Unique variations isn't working yet?  I thought I had used it and saw differences in the populations.

I can confirm that Unique Variations is not currently functioning. In fact it would require either certain specific circumstances (multiple variations of the same object file already created and named sequentially), or would only work on internally created objects (stones, spheres, etc.). There is no good way to create unique variations from a single geometric instance.
