Hi all
Haven't posted anything for a while >:( So here goes
PF terrain, all the texturing is PF based apart from the lower grass (which I'm not happy with)
C&C wanted (though I don't think I'll do any more to this) There are 2 versions, 1 rendered to exr and tweaked in Photoshop and the other as a bmp and tweaked in Corel Photopaint.
And a quick question as I post! Is there a way I can stop the base rock poking through when I apply displacement to the grass layer? Its most annoying, its like the displacement isn't displacing the layer you are working on, its displacing the base layer and its driving me mad >:( ;D

Second version, from EXR

Very nice. Cool name. ;D
The grass is almost too green, but maybe not.
did you use an image map for the texture ? or it's all powerfractals ? Oo
Calico... Ta, glad you like the name ;D I wasn't very happy with the grass myself. I tried it with PFs but couldn't get the look I was aiming for >:( I think its too green too
Seth93... The rock is all PFs, including the fake stones round the bottom of the cliffs (I may chane the colouring of the stones) The grass is an image map with a displacement map
Miles
bravo for the rocks and the textures ! :)
I like this , the cloud has a real windswept look. Prefer the first version. ;) ;D
Good work on the textures and clouds !
Very cool terrain. I like how it's this one giant piece of epicness. I dig the grass too, but have to agree that maybe it's too green, but only around the lower portions of the image.
That's actually a good example (for me, anyway) of the difference you can get from regular images and the HRD ones. I've always been meaning to play around with the .exr format, but up until last night I've just never really seen the benifit in it - partly because I've never had access to a program that can do anything useful with .exr's, partly because I've always had to work with GI off, and partly because I've never really seen a side-to-side comparison.
