Title: Wind Tunnel
Post by: MacGyver on June 26, 2008, 01:20:36 PM
Did this one some years ago using Terragen 0.9x  ;)

Holy crap! How'd you do that in 0.9? It's been a couple years since I've used it, but I don't remember there being any wind functions, and I'm pretty sure the cloud import thing wasn't actually implemented...

Either way, nicely done!

Well, thank you for your applause  :D

I'm pretty sure what is on this picture has nothing to do with actual wind functions, it was just a nice effect that appeared while tinkering around with the options a bit... I'm quite a bit frustrated that I don't have the terrain and atmosphere files anymore, otherwise I would render it in HD with my new Laptop  ;D

Um, I seem to be stuck with the "old" Terragen anyhow, TG2 has great potential I suppose... but my 2006 free version su**s becaus it's slow as crap and I am just a little annoyed it only uses one CPU Core (ok, the multi-threaded version doesn't seem to be stable right now, so why bother?!  ;))
Next thing is, I am no pro in writing shaders for terrains and stuff, there are more possibilities with these options, but as a lay it's an overkill for me. Was quite a bit astonished to notice that my inexperienced TG2 results looked in some sense worse than my TG 0.9 pictures - guess that's simply because I don't know yet how to handle that prog.
