Just wanted to share my new creation :)
I like it :D
Is that a luminous surface down in the cracks?
Wow! That is amazing! You have inspired me to try to create a similar picture...
:o
Wow, this is not a place I would live,
but you've done a wonderful work
This is awesome. I love it. :o
Please share with us. ;D
Please share the source, or at least more images, so I can spend another few days in amazement.
Even a clip file <drooling> would be kinda nice <wipes face>. ::)
Nice, did you put a orange light in the lava veins and in the volcano? And did you use two crator shader for the volcano?
regards,
Will
Lovely work! Extremely creative and well executed.

Not happy with the original image, I have been playing around with it for the last couple of weeks. Not only am I much happier with it, I managed to increase the time it takes to render by about 8!! ;)
There is a touch of post work to it. A few people have asked me how I did the circles of cloud and I will answer soon enough with a tgd example file once I get it sorted.
The orange light in the cracks is a luminescent plane. The light from the volcano is a light source.
Enjoy :)
neat render man, I like this more over the orginal the clouds look more ominess now.
Regards,
Will
Woh! :o
Awesome work njen!
Great job! That's very creative! I would love to see the project file if you feel like sharing.
Wow! The second is even better than the first... very nice!
Where are Frodo and Sam? Great scene!
These volcano pictures just keep on getting better! Amazing!

How long did it take to render? I'm guessing ages.

That's a great idea - a light source in the volcano. Why didn't I think of that?
hmm this is giving me an idea for what can be done with luminace terrien, think about it on a planetary scale ;)

Will

WOW! please, please post the TGD file ASAP!!!
Holy heckfire, that's excellent! Is it rendered so small because of the time it took? If so I'd be glad to render a larger version for you. That's really worth seeing at larger size. :)

:o awesome!
Thanks everyone for the kind words. The image at that size (512 x 288) took about 14 hours to render (and my laptop is at the higher end compared to other computer setups on the TG2 bench mark site). My settings were a Detail of 0.8 and AA of 5 with all the quality settings for the clouds at 1.
I as I mentioned before, I am preparing a sample file of the circular clouds at the moment and I will hopefully be able to post it soon enough.
Your offer to render the scene is generous indeed Oshyan, and I might take you up on that. I work on a laptop and not really excited by having it on for more than 24 hours at a time. Though with the recent successful tests people have been doing about pausing renders and putting them to sleep then waking up the OS and resuming the renders I will have a go at that :)
So here is my method for doing the ring clouds, and an example file.
Cheers!

Lovely work! ;D Well done that man!
thank for the example file ;D
how do you make luminescent planes??
defualt shader

I did say that I'd attempt to create a similar picture, so here it is (http://ccgi.emptosoft.plus.com/main_site/e107_plugins/autogallery/autogallery.php?show=Volcano_in_T2TP....png). I went for a slightly more surreal look...
I'm on a bad monitor right now, but even then it looks pretty dark. I like the volcano's glow, though.
Wow! :o That is amazing, Great work!

The original render was even darker - the version that has made it to the internet has been brightened up quite a lot (but I've still managed to keep the horizon black)...
By the way, if you look carefully you'll see a green mist around the volcano...
Ah, now that I'm on my beautiful flat panel, I can see the image in all its spooky color. Nice job!
Anything ever happen to this? This was one of the best TG2 images I've seen...
njen is one of those fantastic artists who come in and visit from time to time. He's on my list to learn from <check>.
This is really cool.

Thanks for the kind comments :)
I have plans to render a bigger version of this, but since the render time is quite large, I was waiting for the fix where I can render cropped parts of the image without the GI looking different along the seems. So it's on ice for now :)
You can always use the othe rmethod of rendering. Once you decide your laptop has been on for long enough, you pause the render, keeping TG2 and the render screen open, then put your PC into standby mode. When you start it up again from stand-by mode, everything is sitting exactly as you left it and you can continue the render from where you left off.
I'd love to see a full-size version of that render (hint-hint)
It's not the fact that it takes a long time to render or how my laptop performs, it's the fact that I need to use it for my 3D graphics creation, 2D Photoshopping and gaming. Not to mention everything else like email and web browsing. All of which I am ok with if a render is going to take less than 12 hours (through the night), but would be unable to do so for more than a few days.
Sorry for the huge bump, but this was one of my favorite images to come from the beta of T2 and it crossed my mind again today. I was wondering if you've had any time to render a full-sized version of this?
