Title: rendering sky with out Ground?
Post by: mash on July 02, 2008, 01:02:21 PM
Hi, Is there anyway to render the Sky with out the Ground?
I checked off "Enable" on the the terrain.
Problem is that just leaves a black area where it used to be.
Is there anyway to render just the whole sky?
thanks,
Mike

Disable the planet.

Thanks but disabling the planet and the Sky no longer renders.
The reason I'm going through all of this is the client wants a Sunset sky that's getting comped behind other elements.
thanks, Mike

You can do a sunset and then use the alpha for the terrain to block it out.

Leave the planet enabled.  In Render Settings disable Render Surfaces and keep Atmosphere on.
Or use the old version of Terragen; it will allow you to render sky only.

In the planet, disable "Render surface". This will render the planet's atmosphere as if there is no planet surface at all.

The options in the render node are useful for rendering atmosphere passes or surface passes (for later compositing), but the only way to completely disable the planet surface is in the planet itself.
