Title: Snow line
Post by: Cub on January 11, 2007, 12:31:28 PM
Hiya All

Is there a simple way to break up the snow line in a render ?

setting the amplitude for the snow line seems to give me a false straight line where the snow just stops

you can see the problem in the image.

Cub

ps this render rendered me a couple of insects LOLOL , no prize if you spot erm

Still, it looks good.  The snowline is a natural phenomenon, isn't it?  What are you wanting to do to it?

Wonder where the bugs are coming from... ???

Well , I think it would look more natural if the line was broken by snow flowing in to the dips/crevises  in the mountainside

Cub

hey should I report the bugs to Planetside LOL

Use a Breakup Shader and adjust the Coverage and Fractal Breakup values to get the desired effects. I'd also do a constraint based on slope too, for increased realism.

Also, your 'insects' look like they are in the textures of the tree leaves. I'd check your textures really close, especially the alpha textures.

Coverage and fractal breakup seem to have worked on the snow line
