Can you post an image of your problem?
I've used the Ivy Generator quite some times to grow Ivy's on my trees.
I process the exported .obj through Poseray and I convert all the diffuse and alfa's to bmp-format.
Works all perfectly.
So could you be a little more clear about your problem so it's easier to figure out?

Ah that's quit clear:

The alpha-channels of the tiff's aren't working properly.

Convert the tiff images to bmp or jpg (= diffuse color map) and do the same for the alpha-channel in the tiff images (= opacity image).
Then load your ivy model and manually assign the color and opacity image in the ivy's shaders.

add me to your IM (see my profile) and send me the model then if you would like :)
I'm sure I can work this out. I've been using the Ivy Gen quite some times.

This looks correct so far, I'll try to verify it with the files you've sent me...Have to wait till my render is finished :)
