Title: only breakup colour?
Post by: Mid-Knight Acchan on July 23, 2008, 08:24:48 AM
Give an advice.

" "Only breakup colour" which is in the Coverage and breakup" tab tell valid how to use of? about in what scene to use.
It changes a check box and it does render.

However, it isn't perceptive.

Thank you.

"only breakup color" means it won't break up the terrain by displacements...only the color.

In other words: If you have a displacement setup and import a distance shader as the coverage to keep the dislacement close to the camera..  then unless you uncheck "only breakup color" the color will match the distance shader breakup, but the displacement will still be everywhere.  I'm sure this applies to luminence and other surface modifications as well.

Your surface layer may apply displacement in various ways: in the Displacement tab, the Smoothing Effect, Intersect Underlying, or if it has any child shaders with displacement.

The fractal breakup shader usually has a lot of fine detail (the "smallest scale" is small and it has high roughness). Those fine details often create unwanted roughness if they are allowed to affect the displacement.

When "only breakup colour" is enabled, the fractal breakup shader does not affect displacement but only affects colour and luminosity. When "only breakup colour" is disabled, the fractal breakup shader affects displacement exactly the same as it affects colour and luminosity.

I added a color to the topography and merely examined it with that alone.  ;D
I understood the point thanks to advice.
I can push forward manual production in this.

Thank you, everybody. ;)
