Title: How to Flat a loaded Hightfield model
Post by: I3D on August 04, 2008, 01:27:16 PM
Hi Guys

I have a loaded model made in WorldMachine, and i want to flatten a certain part of it to place a city on it, i tried different techniques here and my own but non worked because there is no shading port in the loaded Hightfield. don't know how to do it with WorldMachine, very new with it :) Thanks in advance

Regards

A simple solution is to use a distance shader as your blending shader. This will create a flat circular area about a camera (make a special one, so its different from your render camera). Set the near distance to something that your city will fit in and the far distance to something that blends in well with your terrain. I guess the only big downer on this method is that its only useful for making circular flat areas.
Hope this helps
