A few strata and outcrops shaders, a few olive trees and a little bit of saturation and contrast.
Very nice. Great colouring / lighting, very atmospheric. The terrain reminds me of an old disused quarry.

agree with miles...could be a painting...excellent work!
Great lighting. Excellent textures. Very...moody. ;D
[edit - I like your terrain and think it's very nice. Looks believable and even like it could go into a calendar for LOTR.]
Excellent mood and lighting, especially like how it turns out on the models!
I'm not really fond of the terrain, but this is quite difficult especially using the strata and outcrops shader.
Nevertheless great work!

Very nice, although I agree with T-U about the terrain. Strata and outcrops can be frustrating like that. Perhaps you should try using a stretched out Power fractal instead.
Good distribution of vegetation !
This has written moody all over it :D
Thanks for your comments. I like the idea of stretched power fractals. I'll give it a try.
Btw is there a way to make the strata and outcrops shader less regular? Or some kind of noise map to blend with to make it not appear all over the terrain?

Yes of course, you can use the blendshader of the strata and outcrops shader for that purpose.
For example:
Create a powerfractal with feature size 10, lead-in size 100 and small scale 1m.
Set contrast and roughness to about 2 and, important, set the offset slightly negative, like -0,25 and plug this shader into the blendshader of the strata and outcrops shader. Of course don't forget to enable the blendshader in the node.
The negative offset creates black areas in the fractal which will determine where the strata and outcrops will NOT appear.
The more you decrease this value, the less strata and outcrops will be visible.
The result is that you''ll see patches of about 10m with or without strata, all depends on your powerfractal-settings.
Hope this helps!

Wow! Thank you!! I tried something like that before, but without any success. Now it works. Thanks again!
very very good mood !
Once again, I really like the foliage the most on this image. Its got that detailled grainy (yet not noisy) look that foliage tends to have from a distance.
this is a really great image hannes the lightning looks really superb! are those my olive trees? if so thanks for using them they look really special in this scene ;D
Thank you! Yes, these are the olive trees. They are really my favourite trees.
Btw: they may look special, because when I rendered this image, I didn't realize that these trees are rotated by default. :)
yeah i like them as well maybe because they are not alpha leaves just procedural painted maybe i should start doing more of them for terragen rather than real leaf textures?
and yeah about that rotation it was an error i had when i first started getting my trees into terragen but its fixed now (personally i think this image wouldn't have looked as good as it does now if the trees were upright!)
