Title: TG2 background in Poser

I found a way to get around the texture limitation on imported objects. I used a render I did in TG2 and used it as a background image in Poser. The cabin is a Poser object and it's rendered in Poser. You need to play with the camera angle to match the background image. You also need to match the lights and shadows but it's not difficult.  I used Rarcher's cloud clip. I like the storm cloud look.

This brings up the possibilities of how to make this work.  Good!  I like this, though it could use some more something to make it look like there's activity - the biggest problem I've found with TG2 as well as with Poser: the lack of necessary busyness.  Admittedly though, not every image needs to have a lot going on.

Great work around. This was always the way Terragen was intended to be used and the more work flow solutions we can get to do this the better. No software should be used in isolation.

why didnt you use TG2 to render the all thing ?
i mean... the house is not better than a house rendered with TG2, and it adds some more works to fit the result of the 2 software :)

I used Poser because of the limitation on the number of textures in the Multi Shader. I've seen posted that you can combine materials in other software but I find it easier to just stay in Poser itself. I also find it hard to postion imported objects since all you see is the bounding box. In Poser you see the full geometry. Also when you adjust the lighting it affects the object only not the background so you can add fill lighting without messing up the atmospheric lighting and mood.

hehe yes i know the difference between Vue/Poser and TG2 (i tried the 3) but when i saw this :

I agree that TG2 is far better in rendering outdoor scenes. My goal in this work is to try to integrate the 2 applications in order to make  a 3D animated movie. I need to be able to have my characters walking through outdoor scenes. By rendering the backgrounds in TG2 as image files I can save a large amount of time by animating only the characters in the foreground and not having to render the background every frame.  The key however is being able to project realistic shadows onto the background image file. I'll be trying that next
