Anyone is going to try this browser ? ^^
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/fresh-take-on-browser.html
edit : i tried... funny but not stable on my comp... i go back to firefox right now ;D
hmm had a quick look and not too impressed yet, first thing missing is Googles search box next to the address bar ... oh and its ugly too. Also looks like the default is to show you a visual thumbnail display of your most viewed, recently viewed pages in your home page. I'm sure the code junkies will get their kicks out of it and there may well be some interesting third party apps developed for it ...

I'm very happy with Opera :)

yeah, Opera is cool too ^^
i just stick with firefox its the best opera is just as good though ;) i love its simple clean interface
also safari is good (very quick) so i dont think we need another web browser ;D
I'm not even going to try it.
My irritation about Google is growing, although when it started I was very enthousiastic.
Be a nice web-searcher in all kinds of ways, but don't try to control every aspect of the inet..
Google already has itself 'elbowed' into too much apps already.
I use FireFox. If I install it, I have to disable some pushed Google functions first..
I'm using Chrome and it's not that bad. It's pretty configurable, and the thumbnail thing is quite good (though, obviously it's a matter of personal taste). The only problem is that no Java plugin is available yet, so I can't do my remote home-working thing, which requires Java. So for that I have to revert back to IE7 (I'm a Firefox virgin).
Inscrutable

the normal address bar is also the search box. when you type things in it youll notice right under itll ask if you want to search google for it.
I like it, its pretty decent for a first try and only being out for a short bit now... should improve.
I like it. Nice and easy. Seems faster than Firefox.

I second that!
From Google's Terms of Service. link (http://www.google.co.uk/accounts/TOS)
11. Content licence from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.
11.2 You agree that this licence includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organisations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.
11.3 You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this licence shall permit Google to take these actions.
11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above licence.
Hmm I suspected as much .... Although this doesn't have anything to do with Chrome

Cyphyr, in your opinion, does that mean that any images we post while using their browser means they can use it as they see fit? I don't see how they could enforce that. They may be referring to something else?
http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1843
Ru-u-u-rro.
Well technically they can and already do... Your images already turn up in Googles image search function and I'm sure that even though this is useful none of us have even considered giving our permission. I'm sure they will use the data they collect to improve their service, how else can they put two identical sites in different rankings within their search. In order for Google to be useful they have to manipulate our data. Another example ... Planetside forum used to be down the bottom of page one, now its third from the top. This has been achieved through data mining techniques as has all of Googles services. I mean who actually reads these TOS lol. I do wonder what would be the legal position if one of my images turned up on an image search and I had never used any Goolge product. In launching their own browser they have taken total control of the process and written our permission into it by default.

After a big swell of bad press, Google basically sez they screwed up, and will change the wording.
I guess they just routinely slip in language like "all your posts are mine" just to see if they can get away with it!
Google on Chrome EULA controversy: our bad, we'll change it!

A bigger problem they face is security.
From a security recommendation - "...users [have been advised] to enable the "Ask where to save each file before downloading" option within the "Minor Tweaks" tab in the browser preferences. Although this does not fix the underlying vulnerability, selecting this option will warn the user before files are downloaded. Users should still exercise caution when visiting and downloading items from untrusted websites."
Yikes! I did not know that. (checks "Ask where to save each file before downloading" box)
Another security thing that gets me is the lack of a master password for my saved passwords. Anyone can open up the saved passwords dialog and see all my passwords. Nice.
