Has anyone made any forrest pine type trees ?
I have seen a lot of christmass tree style pines,
but not the tall mostly limbless variety found in most forest. ???
Looks like Scotts Pine possible, watch this space ;)
Richard
good eye those are Scots Pines :o
You could always try making some.
<http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/ (http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/)> The quaking aspens file should give you a reasonable starting point
Actualy I did make a few with Dryad,
but the quality is pretty low :(
i made a set of medium res spruces ;)

lightning those are excelent trees and I love your models... ;D
But sadly they are not the trees that I am after :(
I think these is what we would like to fine. http://www.cornucopia3d.com/purchase.php?item_id=1964 (http://www.cornucopia3d.com/purchase.php?item_id=1964) Sadly they are only for Vue, there goes that vue thing again. Sorry.
A couple other varieties that are very similar, but I would love to see are oldgrowth Lodgepole Pine - http://www.fhsu.edu/biology/Eberle/PacificNW/LodgepolesSnowyRangeCW2005.JPG (http://www.fhsu.edu/biology/Eberle/PacificNW/LodgepolesSnowyRangeCW2005.JPG) and Ponderosa Pine - http://extension.oregonstate.edu/deschutes/forestry/images/Old-GrowthPonderosaPine.jpg (http://extension.oregonstate.edu/deschutes/forestry/images/Old-GrowthPonderosaPine.jpg)
I'm sure that if you created enough variations and unique pine trees and sold them as a reasonably cheap pack you would get some interest. The problem here being that you need quite a few different models as unlike a lot of the "christmas tree" type trees that look similar, all of these trees look fairly unique.

I have one that I got somewhere, likely as a tool for a job I was working on with an architecture student a while back, and it appears to be an XFROG file...it's called a Keifer which is German for Pine I believe. It's very tall and has no foliage on the botton 2/3. will see if I have a render on line and post a link if I do.. ...
Yup here's a link...

I know this type of tree by a more generic Lodgepole Pine, referring to their use in Construction and Shipbuilding and see a lot of them on the West Coast of Canada tho they may well just be costal and neither east nor west oriented.. ...
Here's a link I found searching Lodgepole Pine.. ...
https://formfonts.com/viewModel.php?view=1&id=813&config=1
And here's a page where if you submit a model you can dl a model...otherwise it costs $199.00 per seat to dl from there but you can dl 30 models a day...not too shabby if you have a great need for models and either not the time to hand roll them all, or not the skill to model them, which would be me for vegetation, heh heh heh.. ...

altho that lodge pile pin from asunder looks like it might work...
and i found it goes by a few other names...
Loblolly pine, North Carolina pine, oldfield pine, bull pine, rosemary pine, and Pinus taeda
http://www.conifers.org/pi/pin/taeda.htm
Well here's my attempt, don't bother with the heather ground cover. I'm fairly happy with how they turned out although they wont stand up to very up close and personal scrutiny :) If they're of any use to you I'll upload them this evening.
Richard
I believe I downloaded some tall pine trees a while back made in xfrog by Wallis Eck who still posts on xfrog yahoo. I don't know if they are still available though.
Thanks cyphyr I can't wait to try them out,
they look way better than the ones I made ;D
I've uploaded the Scotts Pine Models, link in the file sharing section, here (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=4793.new#new).

These look really good Lighting. Will they be available in obj format? If so I might be interested.
Bobby, your 'formfonts' links are creating security errors in my browser for some reason, is it a secure website? I cannot even view this thread, which only has links to it, without certificate warnings. See image.
