Will the render engine be faster in the next or in the gold release?

Well hopefully. There are still some optimisations that we are told won't be available for 2.0 but subsequent updates will implement those.

There are no *significant* optimizations coming in the "gold" release. There will of course be some minor tweaks. There are possibilities for further optimization in the future, but that would be after release.

Hi,

Hopefully now we've essentially nailed down the feature set we can spend more time looking into performance closely and may be able to improve the speed on machines with more cores. Can't promise anything, but we will be able to concentrate on it a bit more.
