I would like to see some explanations on the use of the new 'Painter' as it relates to selectively placing and clumping of vegetation on a terrain.

Thanks Oshyan and matrix; this will be (is) a real asset to the program. I've tried it but still got vegetation outside of the painted areas. Also, the use of setting the min/max altitude and slopes is kind of tricky; and, you just don't always get what you expect.
Using the Painted shader for ideal vegetation distribution is a snap ...so much, much better than working with the Distribution shader, especially on distant scenes!
