Title: Shapeshop - Strange Blobby shapes made easy
Post by: Mr_Lamppost on January 20, 2009, 07:31:22 PM
I as having a bit of a hunt around the net yesterday and came across this Shapeshop thingy.  It lets you quickly and easily sketch blobby free form shapes then export them in .obj format. The interface is a but strange as it is gesture based; meaning that you draw lines with the mouse rather than clicking on controls.  Although it is clearly a work in progress there is enough documentation and video tutorials to get you started and the gesture system only takes a couple of minutes to get the hang of.

Best of all it's FREE, you can get it here:

www.shapeshop3d.com

It could probably be mused to make interesting "Feature", rock formations but I used it to make a semi abstract statue; here:

Looks like fun! Too bad it doesn't have Mac compatibility, though.
