Hey Guys, I've been gone awhile mostly do to a fried PSU and Mobo,. I'm back and running on an i7 940, 6 gigs of memory and a Geforce 280 with 1 gig of vram. I've been doing some benchmarking using some of my old projects and I have to say the difference it pretty noticeable. I'm able to finish most renders in under an hour. :) In general doing GI calculations takes around 6-8 minutes (Detail at 1, GI detail/quality both at 3). I'll see if I can post anything definitive soon.

Lucky... :P. I wish I had enough money to upgrade right now. I have a dual core Macbook Pro with 2.2Ghz, and it's starting to show its age when rendering complex scenes. I might actually get a desktop as my next computer despite the fact that I have been working exclusively on a laptop since middle school.
@Will: Cheers!!! I'm sure you enjoy the i7 as much as I do.
