Post by: mesocyclone on January 27, 2009, 10:24:16 PM
Hello guys!

well, I was trying to make a big fissure on the terrain, but I didn't like my results. How can I make one like this?

What I would do is (if you have Terragen 0.09), create a terrain or use a DEM file; use the sculpting tool to create the fissure - then, import the finished terrain into Terragen 2. This should work.

Something else you can try, is using the painted shader in TG2.
Just paint white where you want the fissure, and plug that into a displacement shader with a negative value. That way the floor will have the same roughness as the rest of the terrain, but you can place the fissure everywhere you want, and make it as deep as you like, and change it's shape very easy.

Similar to Mohauk's suggestion. If you find using the Painted Shader a bit fiddly, you can use an Image Shader (white on black where you want your fissure) and use that as a negative Displacement. I use this technique a lot for isolating outcrops in a Displacement Fractal.
