Post by: ra on February 05, 2009, 03:10:46 PM
Hi TG2 addicted people  ;D

I'd like to introduce my new render to you.
Hope you like it though I am not 100% happy with it.

Thanks for watching.

Hi Ra,

Nice work so far! What's it you're not happy with?
I think first of all I would get rid of the second planet. It doesn't fit the scene, draws to much attention and "fills up" the whole image.
Second, you could try to make the trees denser and give them some more size-variation. The leaves also might do with a slightly bit more translucency.
Third, the clouds could be a tad brighter. I summed this one at least because it is already good so not the most important suggestion I would like to make :)
Furthermore I like the water and the sparkling reflections. The composition of the image and its clouds is just fine.

Very ominous with the big planet and the mist. The mist is actually scary, so that's good!
The dark clouds help with that feeling, so that's good as well...

The planet could be smaller, so it doesn't distract from the scary mist, unless the two are somehow linked (like the planet, or something from the planet causing the mist). If you have a good story behind it, everything is possible.

I agree with the others, excellent mist!  Not sure what I would do with the planet though, I kind of disagree with tangled-universe, because I like it.  Perhaps you could make it look more ethereal?  Not sure how you'd go about doing that, though.  The water is nice, too, by the way.

Just to add to the mix - the scale is off and is sort of...unreal.   :P  Not very helpful, perhaps.  Something in the water for scale might help, but that planet out there conflicts with my reason.

Honestly, I think this looks great as-is!  There are things that can be improved, but this looks great.  I love the big planet in the sky.  I've always wondered what that would look like and now I know.

Thank you guys.
In fact this scenery was created pretty fast and I did not really reagard the details before the complete render.
However, I am not really happy with the trees and I guess the clouds could need some more samples. But I will continue working on other projects  :D

Thanks again!
