Hi,
I'm quite new to Terragen 2 and since critique is, in my opinion, the best way to learn, I thought I might share my first serious attempt to create a decent image ;D
It is not finished yet and I'll try to implement whatever critique comes up to improve this render.
The image has got a color tone and brightness/contrast change in a post processing.
My plans from now: Add some clouds without darkening the scene too much and destroy the lighting and a try to reproduce the color tone within TG2.
Rendering Time: About 50 Minutes on a C2D @ 4 GHz and 8 GB Ram.
:)
This is very beautiful and calm at once.
Sky/water colour is perfect together with reflectivity on rocks and shallow water surface.
For a beginning attempt, this is very nice. Good use of light. Nice perspective. I like the water and the vegetation overall. The rocks aren't bad, but could maybe use a little texturing.
Good Point of view and lighting. For my taste, the green on the rocks in the foreground is a bit too vivid - maybe tone that down? Otherwise, I'd move on to the clouds - plenty to play with in the cloud library.
Really nice, no real crit from me, a few clouds would go well as you say but I got to day 4ghz OMG!!:)

I think your image could benefit from Seth's "wilderness" tutorial, and his fat sky is not too dark.
It is an interesting image, mostly for color and light. To my eyes, though, the scales of everything in here don't quite fit with anything else in the scene. The grasses, fake stones and trees... they have the wrong relative size to each other.
Cheers,
Frank
