Title: Trees and storm
Post by: GioMez on February 09, 2009, 05:39:32 PM
Another WIP... i really need help in texturing the stones! ??? :-\
Vegetation created with Arbaro and imported as .obj files in tg2.

C&C welcome and appreciated!
The final version will be rendered bigger ;D

The stones aren't bad.  Check out the Rock Files in the File Library.  The trees could use a little more translucency in the leaves and the clouds need another swipe at fluffy.  There are a lot of files you could use to learn about clouds or even just add as a clip file, while you learn.  These and the stone files are in the File Library.

Very good scene so far ... I like the lighting and the natural shades.

It looks like you use an image shader for the stones ... a good idea - make the image tiles smaller, though. You should combine it with a normal powerfractal (set to a coverage of ~0.6 and a breakup of ~0.4-0.7 as start values)

Go ahead

Second try... Quite changed!
Completly revisited clouds, disposition and shading of the trees, fake stones and atmo.
I also tried to make the grass more realistic.

I am not satisfied of the lowest-level clouds, I am going to play with them during the weekend.
And I also want to work on the surface layer under the grass.

What do you think? ::)

Oh... everything is procedural exept of the texture of the bark.

Trees are better.
The clouds look a bit like mountains now, which isn't a bad thing...

Different mood this time... and clouds tweaked. ;)
Still a WIP thought.

I really like how the low color of the clouds blends into the horizon!
In overall a very nice image. The shapes of the clouds look good already, but still could use some work. You might take a look at some of Frank's clouds to get an idea.

I like the lighting and the vegetation very much. The cumulus clouds are great too, but imho the cirrus clouds look like old vue clouds ;)

I like everything except the foreground tree. too many straight edged polygons for me.
You detail level may me set too low for a close shot, or the model may not hold up to close shots.

Beautiful. How many cloud layers is that? Love those cumulus cloud shapes at the right. Rockin' grass, too :)

How many cloud layers is that?

There are 3 cloud layers: one for cirrus, another for the big cumulous and the last used to create the mist.

Oh, and thank you everyone for the comments and the suggestions!  :)
