Actually, it's a DEM of Antelope Point, Arizona. It's Scotland now! :D ;)
All TG, except the models, of course.
Car model found here... http://dmi.chez-alice.fr/models1.html
Helicopter from Turbosquid... http://www.turbosquid.com/3d
Trees are free Xfrog Grand firs.
Bushes supplied by Lightning.
Grass is an anonymous model picked up somewhere, don't know where, ages ago.

Thanks for looking! :)
Nice overall scene. I especially like the foreground gravel and rocks on the dirt road - looks pretty realistic!
Cool work Martin! Awesome, really like it! Pretty realistic too :)
Only thing I'd suggest is to replace the bright bushes by some better ones and maybe to add some (extra) reflectivity to the car. The rest is just fine with me.
Martin
Very nice scene indeed.
But I have to agree with tangled-universe about the bushes. They do look a little incongruous. (And I have currently the same problem with my XFrog trees^^)
Rest of the scene is flawless. :)
Pretty dandy, DandelO! :P
Now, the animation sequence...
very good job, and i second T-U about the bushes ^^
Excellent render; especially the texture on the dirt road. Decreasing the Diffuse Colour on the bushes should darken and desaturate them, and a redeployment of grass turfs to break up the appearance of mini rows that jars. But great overall composition.
John
Cheers.
The thing with the bushes is, they're meant to be yellow. There's a very common plant that grows in woodland/rocky areas, I don't know what it's called but it's the yellow things visible in this photo taken in my home town... http://www.fotothing.com/photos/4ef/4ef49262b92947e7b51294e3030646fd_c9f.jpg
You'll see in the fullsize photo that it really covers everything, the rock faces and grass, even on the vertical cliffs, it seems to grow anywhere.
That colour is a hard one to achieve. It gave me a real headache and I knew it would be the main picking point on this image. When I leaned towards the reddish-yellow it didn't work, even worse than this greenish-yellow I ended up with.
I might do something with it, cheers, guys! :)
Nice scene :). I agree with most of what's been said above.

That's gorse, or furze as I think it's often called in the UK:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorse
It's a very spiky, thorny shrub which is a major pest here in NZ. It was introduced from the UK way back in the day to be used for hedges around fields, but NZ has ideal growing conditions for it and it took off and is everywhere. I was on a tourist train last summer and overseas visitors were commenting on how pretty the "yellow flowers" were, not realising it's such an invasive pest :-).
Regards,
Jo
Hi again,
I should also say that it is a nice scene. If this was in NZ ( and it almost could be WRC in NZ too ) the gorse would be maybe twice as tall and probably completely cover the areas you have as grass etc. :-).
Regards,
Jo
Jo is a big fan of gorse ! ^^
we should all render gorse so he would come to visit us more often ;D

Hmmm, when the page loads I can clearly see the letters L M A O before the smileys, but when load is complete, only *** remains... Why is that?
Jo, thankyou for the info. :)

Ha! Nice one. Try and get that yellow to look better than I did, though. ;)

The letters have been furzaken? :D :D :D
Cheers for the input, folks! Re rendering the car portion now, you're right, TU, the reflection on the car as it is is just default specularity, going for a reflective shader now and some headlights as suggested by someone elswhere. I'll just crop it in afterwards...
Hey, Mohawk!
*** *** ******** ** ***** ** ****!
** **** * **** ****** **? :D :D :D
Small update. Just a crop of the centre portion worked into the original image.
Fixed the car reflectivity and added some lights for the headlamp shine.

Cheers! :)
Yeah, good! Really like this update. Reflectivity of the car worked out pretty nice :)
Sorry about the bushes by the way. It is good to go after accuracy of a scene and those bushes probably grow there in the real world and indeed are yellow, but I just meant I thought they didn't really fit in the image. Or maybe they should be a bit smoother.
Martin
No don't apologize, you're right, Martin, they do look sh*te! :D
I might try and fix this at some point, not today, though.
Cheers!
damn good render !
i love the car ^^
Hmmmm, more ***'s ???
Since when does the forum have a filter for words that aren't really offensive?
Anyways, I really like the improvements, just adds that little bit of realism. You got the reflectiveness just right, and the headlights aren't that bright, but you can really see the difference with the last version.
QuoteHmmmm, more ***'s Huh

Ha, you don't know what I said, though, it could have been
really ******* offensive! ;) Joke, man!
Cheers, guys! On to the next one now, once I find my muse again...
OK, this scene isn't going to beat me.
Scratch my last comment about 'on to the next one etc,' I'm redoing the bushes now, I have made the leaves of the bush more yellow and overlayed it with a dark green power fractal, this looks more convincing than completely yellow leaves... See you later today, hopefully...
very nice stuff, I like where this is going!
Cheers, Frank. I'm on the last render take just now. The bushes look far better, not perfect but better. ;)
Then I'm done with it, for sure! (until someone points out more flaws, that is! :D)

Oh yeah the fake stones could use some micro-detail, so then you should render it at a quality of ~1 ;) lol ;D
OK. Last one for now. Changes are as written in the above posts.

Thanks for looking, again! :)
Yes! Bushes are more realistic like this!
This reminds me of a level I saw John Carmack try on his latest game engine shown last year.
Good work, Seth.

Nice foreground.

I'm confused! ;D
Reminds me of the old days when I used to play Colin McRae Rally, aaaaaah... :)
No jokes about Colin McRae being in the helicopter instead of the car I'm glad. ;D
Macguyver: I was confused, aswell, as was Calico I think. :D
Love this image; and, where did you get the helicopter model?
