Title: Little performance tip
Post by: jo on March 05, 2009, 12:31:24 AM
Hi,

Obviously people are doing some fairly epic renders. I thought I would mention something you can do if you happen to use a screensaver which might be processor intensive. If it comes on during rendering it could potentially slow things down a lot. TG2 has a setting in the Rendering preferences panel called "Stop screensaver and sleep while rendering". If you check this then TG2 will let the OS know that it is actually doing something while rendering and it will stop your computer either showing a screensaver and/or going to sleep if you've left it unattended to render.

I don't expect this will be a massive revelation for many people, but if you weren't aware of it before you may find it makes a difference.

Regards,

Jo

Thanks Jo - not sure whether my screensaver is processor intensive, but every minute saved is important for me  :) - my machine isn't terribly fast.
