Title: Planet Orbit
Post by: PkmX on March 08, 2009, 10:01:27 AM
Well, I was looking through FrankB's "Class M Planets & Rings" and tried to imitate its node network and create another planet. And here is the result:

Still trying to adjust the light, the blur on the edge of the planet is too bright and thick.  :(

Any comments and criticism are welcome.

Blur on the right should be easily fixed. Top version is my favorite: I really like the shine off the ocean and relief on the mountains with the peaks seemingly sticking up through the lower atmosphere. It makes it look like a small planet or perhaps one with very low mass/gravity. But a huge relief pattern on the ocean? That's the only thing that strikes me as a little... unusual.

Made the 3rd render and the blur is much better now. However I noticed some mud-like terrain at the bottom of image, I'm going to fix it in next render.

C&C welcome.

Nice clouds.  Pretty good terrain - nicely shaped.

4th render, took some time to adjust the blur and it looks just perfect now. C&C welcome, still learning.  :)
