Here ist the object I have worked on the last weeks:
Should be something like this:

5.6 meter.
(http://www.terralights.de/files/objects/small_birch/ex2_1.jpg) (http://www.terralights.de/files/objects/small_birch/ex2.jpg)
Two objects: 273016 polygons and 123460 polygons for populations. For the smaller one I have removed the polygons of the smaller branches.

The images are created from scans I have taken last summer:

This is created with Xfrog 3.5 lite and - as usual for my objects - from scratch.
This object is not free. You have to pay a small fee of 4.95 in Euro to download and use it.
Get it here:

Thanks Klas.
Looks excellent. Would be good if you could provide a few variations of the model in the download though. Just a thought. :)

Isn't this like lightning jack's for sale models which were basically XFROG models...I really don't think Stewart looks kindly on folks selling XFROG products, or even giving them away for that matter. It doesn't look all that different from the Birch that they sell...hmmm.. ...

Klas said it was made from scratch. I think that makes all the difference. :)
Yep, also it probably looks close as when you model things that are the same tree types, they should look alike ;).

Seeing the node set up it's easy to see why these trees are such a good fit overall with TG2...thanx for posting that Klas for those of us without XFROG.. ...
Highly suggest getting this one link worked VERY SMOOTHLY quality is excellent , cost is admirable for the work put in IMHO ;D
