Title: Heightfield shader with and without Fractal Detail - merging/adding ?
Post by: fferro on March 19, 2009, 07:32:43 PM
Hi,
I need a heightfield shader with Add Fractal Detail ON in part of the terrain (far away from the camera), and without it at the other part.
I know how to apply the mask to divide both parts.
Which is the right workflow in this situation?
I have to merge to heightfields shaders? one with and one without Fractal Detail?
Or I have to deactivate Fractal Detail in the heightfield and apply it after it with another kind of shader?

May be a different aproach can resolve this problem better:
How can I smooth or even delete the Fractal Detail close to the camera (inside the heightfield shader)?

Thanks
Fernando

You could try a blend shader set to a distance shader linked to the camera.

Hi cyphyr,
thank you.
Do you know the Merge Mode and the Mix Control values needed in such a case?
Even with a Distance shader working in another merge of shaders (color), I cannot figure out how to create a similar effect here.
