ps I'll probably do another version with the new version of Terragen incorporating a path and more ground cover
wow very awesome.
only comment i have for realism is it seems too perfectly green, some greens are a bit off.. other then that great job!
Very nice...
I have to say I like the shadows and colours of the original better.
As Neuspadrin said, you could work a bit on the colours. The leaves are a bit too bright green, perhaps you could change it to a bit more yellow and a bit less saturated. It could be the result of the translucency colour, which should be the same as the leaf colour (if you use an image map, just apply the image map to the translucency settings).
excellent work, I too prefer the first and agree about the green-ness
the first one is very very good !
Thanks for the feedback guys, I tried a small cropped section using the leaf image for the translucency but it went way too dark. The leaves are already set to 8 on translucency to overcome the darkness caused by so many layers of shadow casting surfaces, maybe the solution is to remodel the tree with fewer leaves.

The top one is *gorgeous* and I love the full range of contrast from dark in the trees at top to light at the edges, and then good lighting in the lower tree and ground cover areas. Personally I don't think it's too green - I love a good sense of vitality. ;D
- Oshyan
I like both.
Fantastic!
Hi,
#1 is really nice,well done!

Hi Richard,
Like the majority I also prefer the first one. Oshyan said it all for me already :) + that I like the gentle rays.
Very good work!

Yep, it's the top one for me. Beauty of a job on that tree bark!!
Great work!
great work, and also prefer the first one. However, if I may, I think both images are a tad too soft. I am a known advocate for softness on vegetation ;D... but here's a tad too much. Probably a combination of high AA + a soft pixel filter. In my opinion it's better to use one or the other.
But don't let this spoil your "render success" ;-)
Regards,
Frank
Agree with Mandrake on the bark. Excellent render.
Wholly moly!!! This looks fantastic, especially the first one. :o
I'm in awe...! :o I love both of them for their mystical feel and lighting, yet I like the first one slightly better as there is more contrast to it (with the darker foliage at the top and all).
