Title: Racks

For about $200, you could setup the semblance of the beginning of a render farm - http://www.surpluscomputers.com/348525/rackable-systems-dual-xeon-2.66ghz.html.  For about $450, you would probably have a very good start.

Quote from: www.surpluscomputers.comNeed a server that can handle all you can throw at it? Here's the server for you! With 2GB of memory & 100GB Hard Drive it can handle just about any applications including audio/ video! These servers are also half-depth to allow to servers to fit into the space of 1 normal size 2u server.

Actually I often wondered about theses systems but the overhead to keep pace with technology is offputting to say the least! :)

Yes.  But, seriously, these might be useful if someone has the time and money...and the proper TG2 license.  Never mind getting an i7 core; this is the fastest route.
