Title: New Planetside homepage online
Post by: Mohawk20 on April 22, 2009, 05:30:55 PM
Have you noticed the homepage is upgraded to TG2 gold layout.
Check http://www.planetside.co.uk/

I noticed I suddenly had to enter a password and username other than those of my account to simply post a reply. Reason enough to check on the homepage, et voillá.

And via via clicking gave me this page @ Greenworks:

http://www.xfrog.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GOSS&Product_Code=X-44&Category_Code=X (http://www.xfrog.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GOSS&Product_Code=X-44&Category_Code=X)

If this is really true then this would be relatively very cheap!!

But you can buy a new copy of Terragen 2 with animation module for $300. This means the xfrog plant models are going for $400! Just seems a bit backwards that a state of the art 3d landscape\rendering package would go for cheaper than a collection of plant models that (although I do love the xfrog plants).

The new site looks great btw  :)

Forgot to add it feels even worse knowing 3ds max and maya users get a 100 free xfrog plants but we are expected to fork out $400 bucks.

Anyone seen this?

QuoteTerragen 2 Upgrade Offer:

Existing Terragen 2 customers are entitled to a credit coupon towards Terragen 2 with XfrogPlants
equivalent to their original purchase price. Please contact (...) for complete information.
(at http://www.planetside.co.uk/content/view/48/33/)

Correct me if I'm wrong - If I'm pre-purchaser I'll be able to have this $699 worth TG2 with all Xfrog Plants for the price that I paid for pre-purchase, yes? Or is there something wrong with my understanding.

$699 - prepurchase cost = price of xfrog plants

I assumed this meant that instead of paying $699 for TG2 and the xfrog plants you would just pay for the plants, which is $400 going of the cost of tg2.

Pity. I was hoping that our pre-purchase will yield some more price drop in Xfrog matter.

Glad you like the site guys. :)

Reck is correct, the discount coupon for pre-purchasers gives you the plants for $400 (for Deep+Animation purchasers). So basically it means you are at no disadvantage (or advantage) as a pre-purchaser - you get the same bundle price overall.

It is a good looking box!

And as for XFrog pricing, there are 22 separate packages of trees. We pay $400 for them. That is $18 per package! If you buy a single package from the site http://www.xfrog.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=GOSS it's $150!!

So we pay $132 less per package. Which totals at $2904 we DON'T have to pay for the WHOLE assortment!

The new site is great.  I especially love the animation on the animation page of the Terrragen 2 tour.
It is slow, which means a lot of people are checking it out. ;D

Also wasn't there going to be a new template for the forums?

Kudos to whoever did the new homepage. Very nice layout, and I hope it will garner the additional public attention and CG user interest that the Terragen/PlanetSide  family of software deserves.

I am thrilled. About the new site, about the generous grace period for the Deep Edition pricing, and now about the newly updated Free Edition. At long last, it's not a preview any longer! Thank you. Happy belated Earth Day ;)

There's a wikipedia page for TG2 now as well, if you have anything useful to add to it feel free to. I've probably missed loads.

@PG - Cool.  But, hey, I'm not sure this is exactly accurate - "Planetside Software released the first public version of Terragen 2 after more than 3 years of development of both the core technologies and the program itself"
