Before I get into this too deeply has anyone else suffered from this problem? I'm using the latest version of Terragen2. The problem seems to be related to the redirect shader or posibly the twist and shear.

I picture would help make clar what you mean, but if I would have to take a guess, I would say yes, I had this too. Seems to happen with large displacements, especially when the shadow casting element is out of the camera view.

I have experienced black patches in a terrain that was quite heavily twisted, so the problem *may* be linked to that shader, but I didn't do enough investigation to pin it down. It would be useful if you could let us see a picture, or even the TGD.
I've nailed the problem - it was due to the displacement settings in thePower Fractal driving the redirect shader

Aha ok...so what was it specifically? Was the problem similar to the images I posted?
It's good for you that you've solved the problem, but we are interested as well what the exact problem AND solution is :)
I'm away on a photo commission and holiday for the next 5 weeks so I'll simply attach the files. I havn't really found a solution more a work around that does not give sucyh good results but maybe you can do it better!
