I've tried using the crater shader on a planet (trying to make the planet look like our Moon); and, when applied, it wipes out the color I've applied to the Moon. Also, I tried to find where the crater shader node is connected to in the internal network but cannot find it. Any help on this? Just trying to make a planet object look similar to our Moon.
I've only seen textured mapped moons, except for something Seth was working on. Maybe he can shed some light on it. I haven't tried...yet.
Thanks Calico, I'll keep experimenting here to see what I can come up with.
I haven't had any trouble with the color changing but I've no clue on how to deform it right.
I haven't tried a displacement shader not sure how to do it.
I just piled fake stone and power fractals on it.

Beautiful work Mandrake. I'm still trying to apply some craters on the Moon ...no luck yet.
Are you applying the crater shader under "shaders" or the "terrain" tabs. If your use it in the terrain tab it will take over from all other colours, not so if you use it in the "terrain" tab before a "compute normal" node.
Hope this helps
Richard
Thanks Richard, I will give this a try. But, I want it to apply to the Moon, not the regular terrain. I had added it originally to the Moon displacements; but, it didn't work.
