Title: Any lake ideas?
Post by: heavenlywarrior on May 09, 2009, 03:00:52 AM
I'm currently on the point of writing my master thesis about visualising landscape changes and want to use a dam lake as an example. Generally the point is to find some nice terrain (preferably river valley where it would be recommended to set a dam lake), simulate flooding to certain level constricted by a dam from one side and by natural barriers such as slopes from the others and finally rearrange the landscape so that it fits newly built lake. I thought about setting my project somewhere in Canada due to great availability of maps (pointed by Ryan Archer) but at the moment I don't really know where such place could be and if it's a good idea at all? (Canada has quite many lakes so far  ;) ) As the last stage I'm going to present my changed landscape with some beautiful (I hope :) ) pictures created in Terragen 2.

If somebody had some ideas concerning utilising the shores, or any other suggestions on how to approach this matter I'd be very happy to hear.

Regards
DK

If you accept to go further to the south, there is the famous Crater Lake:
