I'm loosely trying to recreate a forested area near where I live, its not a exact match of the actual place, but its pretty close.
this features two of the pine trees from Walli's tgo pack, and klas's gras tgo.
the next version will have more populations in it.

Neat! Love the ground cover. Very purty.
From a nitpicking standpoint, it seems like a night scene but I'm expecting darker/more shadow, especially on the branches. The tree texture looks good, but some of the trunk profiles seem smoother than the texture would indicate; tentatively: maybe a bit more/rougher displacement on the trunks.
Cheers!
Very good beginning. It needs more variety - bushes, various kinds of grass (maybe) and some other trees mixed in. You can even use the Paint Shader as a Density Shader, connect three different types of trees with varying distances and heights and use the same Paint Shader for all three trees. This way you have variety and keep your forest lines.
As the people before me said the Trees don't look naturally spaced, but I think simply putting some other kind of vegetation would help that.
-my two latest renders-
-the first is a follow up to the first pine forest render, its darker and it more populations in it.
-the second is a sort of version of the secret place with the new pine trees instead of the scotts pine that I used before...

I like the mood in the second one, although the shadows of the trees going in different impressions detracts from the realism of the image.
there could be a magical light swirling around in the back, no need that everything is realistic ;-)
I think it would if you would break up the groundcover, at the moment I think its to regular and to dense. Here and there a tree stump and a bigger stone, some broken branches and some soil.
I like both for different reasons (from your last renders). The first looks cool, because it's mysterious (what's around the corner?) and the second has that "caught in an adventure" look. Both are very fairy tale. Good job!
How about some firefly's in there?
Wow! I really like the darkest one, Pine Forest 2.
The light is just great and the decay of visibility is perfectly done, I'm looking for 'things' hiding behind the trunks, it's really menacing.
The specular highlights in the lower right hand side on the grasses/ferns is fantastic aswell, very realistic render and my favourite post from you so far, and one of my favourite TG jobs ever.
One to be very proud of, in my opinion. :o
another render just got finished:
revisiting the secret place 2
*with more grasses and bushes added.

It's looking good! Keep up the good work.
This is quite interesting. Just out of interest, what is in your mind, that is creating the flood light effect?

I'll see what I can come up with in future renders

I'm not quite sure...
I guess the light effect was inspired by a video game... Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, specifically the lost woods... and the lighting used in those places.
this is what I have been working on for most of this week-
the last two times i rendered it, I got crashes and errors,

objects: cyphyr's scotts pine, klas's gras, walli's pine trees & grass, lightning's bushes and Acer Acer platanoides.
You like dark pictures, don't you? :P

Nice! I really like the day time one, although IMO they both could use a greater variety of vegitaton on the forest floor, maybe some ferns.
This daylight version is very attention getting ...keep on!
Yeah.... The daylight one is looking great. the mood of it is flowing out.

actully I was working on two render projects at the same time, in other words I was rendering one project over night, and perfecting the current one during the evening/afternoon.
I'll do another version with a greater variety of vegetation later on.
