Title: Pricing
Post by: rcallicotte on May 16, 2009, 09:42:27 AM
http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/new-releases/realistic-terrain-for?item=9147&cat=421&_m=d

This just seems sort of expensive to me.  Or maybe I don't understand what is actually coming with the product.

That sure is a nice terrain, and the work that went into making it may represent some value. But 16$ seems rather steep to me as well.

If it can be used in commercial productions then maybe not a bad price?

That seems very expensive to me. You just need a copy of geocontrol 2 or world machine and you have that sort of terrain in no time at all with little ability needed.

Compare that to some of the TG presets and objects that are being sold for a fraction of the price where you do need a lot of skill and expertise to create them.

For those price tags, you are better off saving money and getting World Machine and/or GeoControl.

I don't think that it is sensible to buy canned terrains as they are the layout of your render and therefore something you should/must have total control upon while it is reasonable to buy e.g. a building because it can be in many different places.

Bye!!!
